Last week, I wrote about Anchorage's Fur Rendezvous festival (https://www.lynnlovegreen.com/post/fur-rondy-time).
My family and I had a great time attending events this year, including my husband's second run at the Running of the Reindeer.
The Running of the Reindeer is a fundraiser for Toys for Tots. It's like a fun version of the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona. Instead of bulls, we have a small herd of reindeer from the reindeer farm in Palmer, north of town. Runners (divided into "herds" of men, women, couples, and groups) dress in wacky costumes. However, it's not entirely risk-free. Most of the reindeers have antlers with sharp tips, and they're not always happy about running with people on a downtown street.
If you'd like to see more, you can watch a short video on my YouTube channel at
My husband is the one with the antlers on his helmet. Thanks for letting me use your picture, Darlin'!
